How to open "My Computer"
Opening "My Computer" refers to a folder in windows that shows you
all of your drives. This includes hard drives, CD Rom drives,
DVD drives, thumb drives, external hard drives, disk drives, and any
other type of drives your computer may have. Generally C:/ is
your primary hard drive.
This tutorial will explain a few ways to get to "My Computer" and
shortcuts you can make for future use.
Method 1 (Easy)

Try this first. Go to your desktop. Look for the icon
shown above. Double click it and you are at the My Computer
location.
If you are using Vista click on Start and look for Computer on the
right hand side of the start menu.
If this does not work try Method 2.
Method 2 (Not for Vista)
If you have not tried Method 1 stop now and try that first.
Click on your Start menu...Programs...Accessories...Windows
Explorer. Open Windows Explorer and click on My Computer on
the left hand side of the windows. Now all the elements listed
under My Computer will be on the right hand side of the window.
If you do not want to go through all of that each time you want to
get to your hard drive, then you can tell windows to put a shortcut
on your desktop for "My Computer". Just follow the following
steps. Refer to the screenshot below.

Step 1. Right Click your desktop and go to properties.
Click on the Desktop tab.
Step 2. Click on the Customize Desktop in the bottom
right hand corner of the window.
Step 3. Click the box next to My Computer. Now click OK
on this window and OK on the previous window. This will place
an icon for "My Computer" on the desktop.
