About the Artist & Exhibit:
"Uncharted Waters" features a collection of exquisite, hand hooked rugs by nationally recognized fiber artist, Sharon Townsend from Altoona Iowa.  This exhibit displays a variety of beautiful, originally designed rugs depicting portraits, flowers, animals, and landscapes.
Sharon Townsend has had a life long love affair with fiber since she was a child.  She found her eye for color and her love for knitting and quilting to be a wonderful mix for the art of rug hooking.  She has been involved in the craft since 1986 and instructing since 1990.  Her passion has her teaching fiber art through out the United States and Canada.  In 2002 she was the feature teacher at the Sauder Village Rug Retreat in Ohio.  She has exhibited at the Wenham Museum and has been on the cover of "The Association of Traditional Rug Hooking Artists" magazine and many other popular rug hooking publications.  She is a certified McGown Instructor known for her infectious enthusiasm that inspires everyone to think outside the box.
